The Third Sector Awards – we’ve been shortlisted!

We are over the moon to announce that On Road Media‘s project, All About Trans, has been shortlisted in the Third Sector Awards “Small charity, big achiever” category.

Our team may be small, but we have the pleasure of collaborating with brilliant partners and community leaders, a trans-led Advisory Group and hundreds of dedicated participants UK wide.

Meeting BBC Scotland

With our interactions, innovative camps, social events and coffee meet-ups, we’ve engaged over 400 sector professionals and more than 250 trans people in nearly six years. This has led to trans actors playing trans roles on EastEnders and Hollyoaks, the award-winning BBC Two sitcom Boy Meets Girl and over 550 positive media portrayals of trans and non-binary matters. Our work has brought about guidance for journalists and the new IPSO guidelines for those covering trans stories.

We’ve connected journalists to people in the community, and promoted trans voices in the media – including the series of shorts created in collaboration with My Genderation; My Trans Story, hosted on All4 and three BBC Radio 1 documentaries presented by the award-winning journalist Paris Lees: The Hate Debate, Staying Out and My Transgender Punk Rock Story.

I’m so proud to be a trustee of this dynamic little charity whose dedicated small team never fail to punch above their weight. The positivity they inspire constantly amazes me. – Sarah Lennox, On Road Media trustee and All About Trans co-founder and senior advisor

We’re delighted to have our work recognised alongside four other excellent charities – Autism Life Dogs, The British Hen Welfare Trust, Pregnancy Sickness Support and The Bike Project. More about these organisations here.

The award ceremony takes place Thursday 21 September, so keep an eye on our Twitter and Facebook for updates on the night!
